Here's pictures from our show at Passerby/Gavin Brown's Gallery for Useless Magazine. These were taken by Nikola from Gawker and Mike Garten (from his Flickr). Occult filmmaker and good friend Micki Pellerano and crazy duo Mickey + Raul started off the show with a Voodoo Death Ritual complete with zombies and gore while we provided the evil soundtrack, then we did our thing. Joly from Punkcast filmed the whole thing, so stay tuned for that. We recorded the set on a 4 track and it'll be available soon as a cassette bootleg from Awesome Color Allison's Party Store. Party Store is also gonna have a Knyfe Hyts (a drunk version of Ex Models as Zack decribes themselves) cassette tape. Stay tuned

The DJ's for the Soul Clap Dance Contest held at Glasslands were Inspector Strawberry Sodapop and Jonathan New York Night Train. Zumi was the emcee hosting, and Marmaladies, Tha Pumpsta + Lacey, twins from Dragons of Zynth were some of the judges. I had to wear a wig and glasses and go incognito so I didn't scare all the competition away during signups + I signed in as Juicy Brown Jones. Shit I didn't even know there was 3 rounds otherwise I would've paced myself but I still slayed all the competition because when James Brown is playing I can pull magical moves out of my ass. The Encino Man and the Crazy Muslim gave me some stiff competition in the last round plus I was tired, but I pulled it out in the end. They even pulled me into their group hug when it was all over. I never like doing group hugs but that hippy and Muslim gave me some competition , so I obliged tonight.

On September 8th was Monster Island's annual block party. Rachel of Secret Project Robot put it together and Todd P helped with the bands part of it. There was plenty of art put together by the tenants of Monster Island and a bunch of bands. I missed Elicita's band Tiger Streifen but got here in time for Dynasty Electric Duo and Rahdunes in the basement. Dynasty was tearing it up when we rolled up. Right before we started there was a noisy improv set by various people from a bunch of bands- Chris Millstein and Awesome Allison and Kayrock on drums, Awesome Michael on bass, Barry on keys, and another Oneida dude on guitars, Shahin Ex Models also on guitars- it was real cool. Then we went after them. Cammy broke 3 guitar strings before we even started playing our first song, and he had no backup strings- and it wasn't like 3 strings in a row- it was every other string, so it sounded fucked up any which way he tried to play it!! and Tra La La's hands were real sweaty from the hot humid weather, so she didn't feel like playing some songs, and just stopped playing at random times- sometimes she just fell to her knees and banged the shit out of her bass with her high heels in her hand which is cool. Most importantly, Chico, the dog in these pix, finally performed with us. We been trying to sneak him into our shows but dogs are never allowed whenever we play. He loves shows though- he usually likes attending in-stores at Passout Records, one of my favorite record stores here. Anyways he finally got to tear up a box while we played. Tearing up boxes is his specialty. High Places followed us and they were awesome. I finally met them through Rop and they are real nice people those too. Rop re-mixed some of their songs in the past. Then Aa followed them and they brought down the house with their noise. By then it was nighttime. I took a few shitty pictures with my shitty camera, but I know tons of people taking pix that day, so I'll up some proper pix later.

This weekend we were pretty busy even though we had no shows for the first time in weeks. Friday our manager/PhotoShop expert, Jonathan Toubin had his semi-regular party "Ants in Yer Pants" at Savalas and he had Nick Zinner as a guest DJ, and me and Reggie Recess basically drank free all night. Theme Party and Cammy came by later after they had attended that Rahdunes/Numbers/MikaMiko show to catch their friends play. I had a lengthy discussion with Brian about Wu Tang Clan and their relation to the I-Ching, Numerology, the Lone Wolf and Cub Shogun Assassin series plus the benefits of fasting every 3 months. I always thought Brian was a awesome drummer but I never knew he was a cool Zen dude. The next day we all went to PS1 to catch our homies Ex Models play at Oneida's 10 Year Aniversary Party. Raul and Mikki tore shit up on the dance floor as usual. Some yuppie guys formed a dance circle and Mikki went in there and did a back flip and the earthworm on the hard concrete- that bitch is crazy! Then that night we went to Tra La La's house where Ivan Sunshine was having a BBQ. We met up with Todd Fisher who always takes crazy photos of people all over NYC- check out his site. He did a impromptu photo shoot of us on the street. The best part was when all the neighborhood kids yelled out "MYSPACE!!!" and all joined in the photo shoot. Check out the cute little chubby gangsta dude in the middle with a white doo rag, holding up his colors. I also love the one where we're all spitting.
