* This is the end of our set at the Monster Island Block Party- the first video was taken by Margarita Jimeno. My amp broke halfway through the set, and Alix's bass broke right before this song, so you can't see either of us because we are just dancing lost in the crowd at this point. The Monster Island Block Party became an indoor building party due to Hurricane Hannah, but it was still fun times. The second video, at the bottom after all the pictures, was taken by Maya Hayuk. Maya's video may be the first footage ever in the history of video of someone doing a "centipede" on top of a crowd. You see B-boys doing that move all the time on the floor, but never on top of a crowd of people. Doing the centipede on the floor ain't shit. Micki did a zombie ritual and Raul and his blue gang did a performance as well, and all the bands were good- Oneida did a live recording for a Social Registry record; Ex Models slayed in the yoga studio; the internet world is completely freaking out lately over the Vivian Girls who brought their sing-along indie twee pop; K-Holes, Temptations (Rahdunes members), Red Dawn II played 3 sets on a secret stage; and a surprise set by Awesome Color ended the night. 2 days later we played at Santo's Party House with ARE Weapons.

Golden Triangle Birthday Party Weekend + record release show

The band turned 1 year old this weekend so we made it a weekend-long party culminating in the birthday bash at Live With Animals. We also had a 7" to sell that night, but no one was manning the merch table so it seems like a few were missing. Lucky for us Chloe Sevigny was near the records when someone tried to grab one off the wall, and she hollared at Carly, and we chased him down! Haha you can't get away, crook! We got eyes. Eric and Rachel did a nice birthday song crazy sample loop thing to start things off- then Red Dawn II, a new band with Allison from Awesome Color and Wolfy Part II, and Knyfe Hyts tore it up next.

We Played at Studio B last night with ARE Weapons for their CD Release party. It was real fun. A lot of our friends got split up tonight because Zack and Ex Models were playing with Silver Apples at Silent Barn and Chris Rattlestein was playing at Cake Shop. Studio B was fun though- I liked all the bands we played with. Orphan is a couple of old school DC folks rockin' the 2 man band style with dude playing some distorted heavy bass and a girl bashing the skins. REAL heavy. Then IUD was next - it's Lizzie from Gang Gang Dance plus another girl playing drums and singing spooky echoey shit over double drums. It was real evil and witchy sounding- evil and witchy are always good to sound like. Lizzie has a crazy ass voice as we all know especially with those effects. She told me she has a record release show coming up at Glasslands, so that should be a fun show. Then we played. Then ARE Weapons rocked the house. I was trying to get my crowd surf on, but all I managed was a piggie back ride in the front of the stage, but that's cool too. Chloe Sevigny and Matt McCauley and Brain McPeck and Erik Rapin from ARE Weapons are sweet people and we all wanna party with them more. They all headed back to Manhattan afterwards and we went to Daddy's- the late night choice for us and our friends usually.
