Golden Triangle + Knyfe Hyts tour

*

The tour had some amazing moments especially from our stop in New Orleans. Knyfe Hyts' "Enter the Dawn" 6AM set at MC Trachiotomy's house, was incredible, as was MC Trachiotomy's 7AM performance right after. Quintron's party at the Spellcaster was of course crazy. One late night we were craving Po boys and stopped at Hank's on St. Claude's. It's a late night corner store with food and bootleg movies. In fact, they have a top picks list (including "Who's Your Caddy?", "Butt Shake-off 2", and "She got way Mo Ass") compiled by the employees taped up on the counter. You can be like, "Yeah I'd like one fried oyster po' boy, a bag of neck bones, and copy of Butt Shake-Off 2, please", and your night is set. I wish they had Butt Shake-off Part 1 though cuz you know the sequels are never as good. Along the way we met up with a lot of amazing and sweet characters- Stephen, Bennett, Will, Hen and Jen, Jude, Tony Bones, Beth and Jess, Quintron, Brendan, Bradford, Moses, Adam and his girlfriend, JB and his comeback sauce, his cupcake wife... On our way though Baltimore which was our last stop on the way home we were pleasantly surprised by some New York buds Punk Rock Sean and Micki P. It's good to have your home town homies on the road with you. By the way Punk Rock Sean has a record coming out from his mysterious band, "Cult of Youth"- I hear his music is amazing so it behooves you to go get it. Also I actually stole that first picture - that one with Stephen coming out of that coffin box- from the Barbaras' site--- the Barbaras are a really good band he has with Bennett and Will, when he's not bass playing for Jay Reatard. I thought it was funny when he invited us into his room to watch a movie and it was Princess Diaries. I guess it was funny because I expected a crazy ass punk rocker dude like him to have Predator or some zombie movie on, or something like that.

Golden Triangle + The Intelligence + S-S-S-S-Spectres + the rooftop party that never was

*

These are pix of the SSSSpectres and The Intelligence from our show at Hank's plus the bad ass evil poster that the SSSSpectres made for it. Violette from Plastique People zine and Ceci Moss took the pix of us. Look out for that zine- it's coming out soon. SSSSpectres unveiled a new member on keys and it sounded good. I actually always thought keys would sound good with their music. The Intelligence was awesome as well. I like their weird pop- they played tons of short songs that went straight to the point which I like. Lars is a real sweet guy. I forgot I had met him in New Orleans already at The Saint. He was there when I passed out, and everyone drew on my face. He said that one of his homies passed out once and they took off his shoes and socks and drew some Chucks on his feet which I think is funnier than the basic facial style. Lotsa folks showed up for this free show- Tom Dash was in the house, Skeleton Boy, Jack and Julie, Little Alix for a minute. Jack was saying how Hank's was the first place Black Lips ever played in New York not too long ago- well before Jack even joined the band, so I guess awhile ago. He says that Alberto from Wowsville was there and declared, "Dees iz da fyooo-ture!" (TRANSLATION OF ALBERTO'S SPANISH ACCENT: This is the future!) I guess this makes Alberto a muthafucking psychic- shit now I wanna take him to Vegas with me, plus I miss him and his store on 2nd Ave. After this we were supposed to play an unofficial Vice after-party organized by Lou. Rumors were swirling about this party all week- Atlas Sounds was gonna play...jello wrestling...fireworks...sponsored by Goya and United Way...It was a roof top late nighter with Turbo Fruits starting at midnight , then Pterodactyl, then ourselves and The Intelligence, but Zack called me from the party and said the cops just came and raided the party at 1AM just as they (Pterodactyl) were starting their 3rd song. I heard the roof top was huge and it was already jam packed by midnight- those damn po po's! Most of our friends were going to that show, so it kinda sucked. At the end of the night, we met an cool old Rasta dude selling home-made incense sticks out of his shopping cart- I forgot his name and I should have taken a picture, but if you're ever in that area, support that guy and buy some sticks. He's real cool, and he has stories to tell plus he's good to have around if you need to smoke.

Golden Triangle at Carrie D's house party!

*

We played at Carrie D's house party last night. The theme was that you had to dress as your animal spirit. I was gonna be a glow worm, but I couldn't get it together in time, so I dressed as a Pterodactyl but people kept mistaking me for Batman. When I was walking home from dropping off equipment, people kept stopping me to take pictures, or ask for directions, or just comment on my crime-fighting- I actually jogged the whole way home so my cape would flap in the wind because it seemed more heroic looking. Theme Party dressed as a skunk, I think. Cammy was a velociraptor, Reggie Recess was some kind of bird, and Sodapop was a monkey. TraLaLa , I had no idea what she was. Jonathan dj'ed all animal-related songs. I didn't know there was so many dances named after animals. I gotta make up a new move so I can name it the penguin. One random thing about the night was that the singer Alex from Franz Ferdinand was at the party... what the heck was he doing in Greenpoint? I don't know how he got there but that's cool. He couldn't hear what the heck we were singing through the shitty PA, but he still said it was a fun show. He told me they have lots of warehouse kind of parties out in Glasgow where we can play, so that's aight with me.
