Live at Secret Project Robot then Santo's Party House/ Golden Triangle+ExModels+Oneida+Vivian Girls, etc.

* This is the end of our set at the Monster Island Block Party- the first video was taken by Margarita Jimeno. My amp broke halfway through the set, and Alix's bass broke right before this song, so you can't see either of us because we are just dancing lost in the crowd at this point. The Monster Island Block Party became an indoor building party due to Hurricane Hannah, but it was still fun times. The second video, at the bottom after all the pictures, was taken by Maya Hayuk. Maya's video may be the first footage ever in the history of video of someone doing a "centipede" on top of a crowd. You see B-boys doing that move all the time on the floor, but never on top of a crowd of people. Doing the centipede on the floor ain't shit. Micki did a zombie ritual and Raul and his blue gang did a performance as well, and all the bands were good- Oneida did a live recording for a Social Registry record; Ex Models slayed in the yoga studio; the internet world is completely freaking out lately over the Vivian Girls who brought their sing-along indie twee pop; K-Holes, Temptations (Rahdunes members), Red Dawn II played 3 sets on a secret stage; and a surprise set by Awesome Color ended the night. 2 days later we played at Santo's Party House with ARE Weapons.

Golden Triangle finale

Maya took this shorty video of us at the Monster Island Block Party. Watch out for the centipede on top of the crowd!!

Golden Triangle + Knyfe Hyts tour

*

The tour had some amazing moments especially from our stop in New Orleans. Knyfe Hyts' "Enter the Dawn" 6AM set at MC Trachiotomy's house, was incredible, as was MC Trachiotomy's 7AM performance right after. Quintron's party at the Spellcaster was of course crazy. One late night we were craving Po boys and stopped at Hank's on St. Claude's. It's a late night corner store with food and bootleg movies. In fact, they have a top picks list (including "Who's Your Caddy?", "Butt Shake-off 2", and "She got way Mo Ass") compiled by the employees taped up on the counter. You can be like, "Yeah I'd like one fried oyster po' boy, a bag of neck bones, and copy of Butt Shake-Off 2, please", and your night is set. I wish they had Butt Shake-off Part 1 though cuz you know the sequels are never as good. Along the way we met up with a lot of amazing and sweet characters- Stephen, Bennett, Will, Hen and Jen, Jude, Tony Bones, Beth and Jess, Quintron, Brendan, Bradford, Moses, Adam and his girlfriend, JB and his comeback sauce, his cupcake wife... On our way though Baltimore which was our last stop on the way home we were pleasantly surprised by some New York buds Punk Rock Sean and Micki P. It's good to have your home town homies on the road with you. By the way Punk Rock Sean has a record coming out from his mysterious band, "Cult of Youth"- I hear his music is amazing so it behooves you to go get it. Also I actually stole that first picture - that one with Stephen coming out of that coffin box- from the Barbaras' site--- the Barbaras are a really good band he has with Bennett and Will, when he's not bass playing for Jay Reatard. I thought it was funny when he invited us into his room to watch a movie and it was Princess Diaries. I guess it was funny because I expected a crazy ass punk rocker dude like him to have Predator or some zombie movie on, or something like that.

Monster Island Block Party/Golden Triangle + Big A little a + High Places + Rahdunes

*

On September 8th was Monster Island's annual block party. Rachel of Secret Project Robot put it together and Todd P helped with the bands part of it. There was plenty of art put together by the tenants of Monster Island and a bunch of bands. I missed Elicita's band Tiger Streifen but got here in time for Dynasty Electric Duo and Rahdunes in the basement. Dynasty was tearing it up when we rolled up. Right before we started there was a noisy improv set by various people from a bunch of bands- Chris Millstein and Awesome Allison and Kayrock on drums, Awesome Michael on bass, Barry on keys, and another Oneida dude on guitars, Shahin Ex Models also on guitars- it was real cool. Then we went after them. Cammy broke 3 guitar strings before we even started playing our first song, and he had no backup strings- and it wasn't like 3 strings in a row- it was every other string, so it sounded fucked up any which way he tried to play it!! and Tra La La's hands were real sweaty from the hot humid weather, so she didn't feel like playing some songs, and just stopped playing at random times- sometimes she just fell to her knees and banged the shit out of her bass with her high heels in her hand which is cool. Most importantly, Chico, the dog in these pix, finally performed with us. We been trying to sneak him into our shows but dogs are never allowed whenever we play. He loves shows though- he usually likes attending in-stores at Passout Records, one of my favorite record stores here. Anyways he finally got to tear up a box while we played. Tearing up boxes is his specialty. High Places followed us and they were awesome. I finally met them through Rop and they are real nice people those too. Rop re-mixed some of their songs in the past. Then Aa followed them and they brought down the house with their noise. By then it was nighttime. I took a few shitty pictures with my shitty camera, but I know tons of people taking pix that day, so I'll up some proper pix later.
